Does the fiber modem have built‑in router/WiFi?
Newer fiber modems
The latest types of fiber modems used by Varanger KraftFiber now include router functionality and built-in WiFi. This means the customer does not need to purchase a separate wireless router. A predefined WiFi name and WiFi password are printed on a label attached to the modem. If you are unsure whether your fiber modem includes router functionality, please contact us.
Older fiber modems
Our earlier types of fiber modems do not have built-in router/WiFi. These modems function as a basic network switch, which means the customer can only have one PC connected to the internet at a time by connecting directly to any network port on the modem.
To have multiple devices (PCs/tablets/phones/etc.) connected to the internet simultaneously, the customer must obtain a wireless router, connect it to the fiber modem, and then connect all devices to the wireless router.
